King's Day in Amsterdam 2024

events

King's Day is officially the national celebration of the birthday of the Dutch king. In reality, however, it's simply an excuse to party very exuberantly. The celebrations take place throughout the Netherlands, but have a special ambiance in Amsterdam.

In Amsterdam, King's Day (formerly Queen's Day) is by far the largest open-air event. An estimated 700,000 people visit the city on this day. Many of them do so wisely by train.

Various places in the centre like Rembrandt Square, Spui, and Leidse Square are then full of people celebrating in orange. On King's Day, all street sales are unregulated, making it also ideal for those looking for second-hand items. In the Vondelpark, children show off their entrepreneurial talent.
